Hi, I'm Julien 👋
Former healthcare pro, now crafting software and building things I wish existed.
About Me
My background is in healthcare, where I spent 20+ years working as an Osteopathic manual practitioner. That world taught me a lot about precision, systems thinking, pattern recognition and people-centered problem solving. It's that same mindset I now bring to building software.
I'm currently completing a software development and programming bootcamp, where I've been exploring everything from structuring websites to building applications (not yet but coming soon).
While I enjoy the whole process — designing, structuring and coding, my real pleasure resides in engineering and crafting tools and solutions.
I use AI tools like Claude as a pair programmer: for planning, reviewing and explaining, while making sure I understand and own every line I ship.
I'm looking for opportunities where I can keep growing as a developer, ideally somewhere my healthcare background might add an unexpected perspective.

Stride
Physiotherapy practice managementBootcamp capstone: practitioners prescribe exercise programs, patients complete them on their phone and chat in real time. A NestJS API over PostgreSQL with Row-Level Security forced on all 42 tables, an append-only clinical record, audit logs on every write and TOTP two-factor auth. The React frontend is phone-first.
WeatherPulse
Real-time weather forecast & air quality trackingReact + TypeScript weather app: search any city by name, coordinates or your own location to get current conditions, a 24-hour trend chart, a 4-day forecast and air quality converted to the US EPA AQI scale. The search is debounced and cancels stale requests with AbortController, the theme changes with the weather, and every hook, util and component has its own tests.
Mundus
Explore the world through dataInteractive dashboard aggregating 4 public APIs into one view of any country's demographics, geography, map and live weather. Built a custom GeoJSON pipeline to fix antimeridian rendering bugs and cut map payload by 71%, then shipped a serverless proxy overnight when a 3rd-party API broke the live app.
Voltaira
Markdown note-taking app for non-linear thinkersFull-stack app pairing a framework-free Vanilla JS editor (Vite + CodeMirror 6) with a decoupled Node/Express/MongoDB API. Features bi-directional note linking, "Ghost Notes" for outlining before writing, and global tagging — built to prove I can own architecture end-to-end, not just consume a framework.
